cooking with raunm episode 1

hello internet! it has been a bit since my last update so i thought with this one i'd give you something A. new and B. different from my last kind of art. so i give you come of my completely instinctual (plus some help from food network knowledge) cooking.

i decided, since i've been working out recently and i'm trying to eat healthier, to make a chicken and vegetable stir fry of sorts.

so here's the chicken breast, and the vegetables i used, a red bell pepper, a carrot stick, a stick of celery, and some arugula. i thawed the chicken using my microwave and then butterflied it. while the chicken defrosted i chopped the vegetables up.
i put a pan on the stove and set the fire to medium high, then chopped the chicken up into bits, just kind of randomly. small enough to get cooked through on the pan. i added it all to the heated pan and threw some lime juice on it.
after letting the chicken cook for a bit i tossed the celery and carrot into the pan, not yet wanting to put the bellpeppers in because i didn't want them to get soggy. after tossing those veggies in i added the flavors. i put in a bit of soy sauce, not a lot because i like the flavor but it's really strong, at least to my pallet. then i added a nice amount of hoisin sauce and sriracha sauce (otherwise known as cock sauce.)
muy bueno.
then i added the obligatory salt and pepper and mixed it all up, letting the sauces converge and the veggies and meat cook.
after adding the sauces i threw the bellpeppers in, since it wouldn't be much longer, the chicken was pretty much done at this point. i turned the burner to low and got ready for my arugula salad. i got out some lemon juice, balsamic vinegar, and bloody mary seasoning (what!?)
since the stir fry was pretty spicy/savory/salty, i wanted to have some acidic taste to the meal so i thought i'd make a kind of a vinaigrette for my arugula, to counter the savory. i put the arugula in my bowl then threw on the lemon juice, vinegar, and just the little bit of the bloody mary sauce for a kick. i tossed it together with my hands and then strained the excess vinaigrette mixture, not wanted it to be too powerful. after that was all done i went back to my pan, mixed it up a bit more, then turned the burner off. i had my bowl all ready and i threw the stir fry on top of my salad, and i was ready to eat.
senor this looks muy delicioso.
and indeed it was. the chicken had just enough heat from the sriracha and the little bit of bloody mary gave it a nice kick as well. definitely easy and quick to make, only took me about fifteen minutes, and that's only because i wasn't following any recipe, just winging it as i went.
hope you enjoyed, send me pictures if you try it yourself!

  1. That looks really, really good.

Are all of your awesome creations (Minecraft, songs you've written, etc.) improvised like that?

If so, you're like the Jack Sparrow of design and creation.
